The article deals with the influence brought by the tradition of German historical drama of the 18 th – 19 th centuries on the works of Georg Heym (1887–1912), who began his literary career as a playwright. Despite the fact that his dramatic works are traditionally believed to be secondary and unoriginal, their significance for the creative evolution of the author can be considered significant. In his dramatic experiments, Heym mastered and developed the classical repertoire of poetic meters, which then became the basis of his individual poetical idiostyle.
