The proposed article provides an interpretation of the full text of Fedor Sologub’s poem, which was previously only touched upon in fundamental studies of Russian symbolism or mentioned as an illustration of a particular motif complex. The starting point for us is the question of the dialogue and the event in the lyrics. The article reveals the correlation of theoretical positions with the poetics of the poem “You were sadly twinkled”. The goal is to clarify the aspects of the event and dialogue in symbolic reality. In the course of consideration, the author turns to the images of flickering, silence, a wordless story, a captivating circle. Systematic consideration of the identified issues allows us to come to the conclusion that the event of the meeting and the dialogical relations in this work are not only non-random, but also become both the object of the image (part of artistic reality), the subject of reflection of the lyrical hero, and the way of understanding, the result of the interaction of the work and the reader.
