The article examines Mayakovsky’s references to Pushkin’s name in various texts, including non-fiction ones, and analyzes various non-traditional cases of word usage and collocation in Mayakovsky’s poem “The Khrenov’s Story of Kuznetskstroi and the People of Kuznetsk”, as well as the undesirable semantic effects that arise from such word usage. The article interprets variations of the Old Testament myth of creation of the world in Pushkin’s poem “The Bronze Horseman” and in Mayakovsky’s poem and at-tempts to establish a possible connection between Mayakovsky’s text and Pushkin’s poem.
