The meeting between M.M. Bakhtin (1895–1975) and A.A. Ukhtomsky (1875–1942) took place in the mid-1920s at a report by an outstanding physiologist on the chronotope. The concept outlined in this report influenced M.M. Bakhtin’s essay “Forms of Time and Chronotope in the Novel” in the late 1930s. Some evidence suggests repeated meetings and conversations between these two thinkers, a physiologist and a philosopher. A number of domestic and foreign researchers are concerned with the question of which ideas and works of A.A. Ukhtomsky influenced M.M. Bakhtin and were reflected in his work.
