The purpose of the publication is not only to highlight the correspondence between K.I. Chukovsky and V.E. Evgen’ev-Maksimov, but also to clarify the relationship between the two scientists, to show the commonality of scientific interests, and to present a broad picture of Nekrasov studies. In Soviet times Nekrasov studies experienced an unprecedented rise. Many of the venerable Nekrasov’s researchers (M.M. Gin, A.M. Garkavi, O.V. Loman, and others) are mentioned in the letters and are active participants in the dialogue. The time frame of the letters presented is limited to the late 1940s – early 1950s. Most of the letters are not dated. However, even such a short period allows us to notice the main milestones of the organizational and research work related to Nekrasov’s creative heritadge, This including the publication of the first Complete Works of N.A. Nekrasov, the organization of Nekrasov conferences, the release of “Nekrasov Collections”, and the discussion of the project for the Yaroslavl monument to Nekrasov. Work moments are closely intertwined with personal ones, which allows us to more fully reveal the collaboration between two brilliant researchers. The letters stored in the collection of the manuscript department of the Pushkin House are published for the first time.
